Sucina is a beautiful small, typically Spanish village with its old 18th century church at its centre and a selection of authentic Spanish tapas bars and restaurants dotted along the street. The church is a great attraction with its old bell tower and a spacious plaza outside. It is only 6 km from San Javier and a 5 minute drive to San Javier Airport (Murcia). Murcia City is close by and is a wonderful city to explore. Sucina is relatively unspoilt and its main business is still agriculture including the cultivation of almonds, olives, melons, lemons, tomatoes, green beans and of course artichokes which are very popular with Spaniards. Like other small villages it is currently in a growth phase and many people deciding to make their home in Spain are choosing to live in a more Spanish setting like Sucina. It is a place to live in quiet solitude but it has all the necessary trappings of modern life such as a medical centre, school, bank, petrol station, hairdresser, beautician, supermarkets and a lovely children's play area. The two golf courses that are closest to Sucina are Hacienda Riquelme and La Peraleja, which are very popular courses with the golf tourists and there are also a large number of golf courses within 45 minutes. Polaris World developments had a huge impact in particular on this town. Riquelme still brings in thousands of visitors to the town every year. Scandinavians love it for some reason.
Monday is market day where you can buy the freshest of fruit and vegetables. The beautiful beaches of Mar Menor are a short drive away. Sucina retains the Spanish tradition of processions during Easter week or Santa Semana as it is called in Spanish, and it is very colourful and heart touching to watch. For charm, picturesque and peaceful living you would find it hard to find anywhere better than Sucina.
New developments no longer centre around the golf courses- There is genuine value to be had in one of the numerous newly planned developments for 2016 and 2017 completions.
