Shop Eat Play – La Zenia Boulevard
No shopping centre could ever be a tourist attraction, right?? La Zenia Boulevard in Orihuela Costa, Alicante explodes that myth. The nucleus of the local community, this cleverly designed mall entices people to travel from far and wide, just to see if it lives up to its reputation. They aren’t disappointed! The boulevard is more than a group of shops built under one roof. Styled in American design, with the Moorish feel of back streets that open up into a pivotal area, similar to a town square, the centre isn’t closed in at all. During the current Covid19 pandemic, it makes a safer option than shopping within a closed mall.
What’s not to love about 150 shopping outlets within the 161,000 sq metre space that is the expanse of the boulevard. Free Parking!! It just gets better and better…5000 spaces to be exact. This of course means that visitors don’t feel the need to rush around the centre and can instead enjoy its wonderful facilities, at the leisurely pace that is the essence of Spain.
Variety of Shops
A shopper’s paradise, the ground floor of the boulevard combines high street favourites, such as H & M, Mango and one of the largest Primark stores in Europe with a mixture of indigenous shops displaying an array of goods including costume jewellery, stylish shoes and bespoke furniture. Pop the indulgent purchases into your boot and return to do the weekly shop at the popular Spanish supermarket ‘Alcampo,’ also within this amazing complex. Just as you’re about to leave, you might spot the large popular electronics store, Media Markt which occupies a huge space on the outside of the centre. Well worth a visit!
There’s nothing quite like a break for a refreshment of some description when enjoying a shopping spree and though there are some kiosks on the ground floor of La Zenia Boulevard, with seating, the main restaurant area is on the first floor. If you need a wheelchair to get around, fear not, your visit is anticipated and access to all floors is offered by three lifts within the boulevard. With shopping out of the way, or maybe before starting the spree, stroll through the selection of restaurants that offer some of the nicest cuisine in the area. Fast food options compete with delicious menus provided by a variety of eateries Choose from the menu, at your leisure, enjoy the food and when you inevitably return, check out another restaurant.
For the kids!
Did someone say FREE?? Yes and not just the parking. La Zenia Boulevard offers a play area for 4 to 10 year olds. FREE! Zenia Park, another children’s area, though not free, is a funfair for the little ones. For the older ones to get rid of all that pent up energy, Urban Planet is the place to go. Jump around on those trampolines, playing dodgeball or other jumping activities. Great way to keep fit!
More leisure activities…
A 7D cinema, bowling alley and video arcade are on site! What more could you ask for! A casino?? That too! Casino Mediterraneo, the most popular casino in the area.
In the summer months, the boulevard is alive in the evenings, not just because shopping is easier as the weather gets cooler, but with the entertainment from the stage in the centre of the square on the ground floor. Noches de Verano (Summer Nights) provide a schedule of events for locals and visitors alike. Make it an evening out, select the acts you would love to watch or simply take it all in while you’re passing through.
Whatever your interest in what La Zenia Boulevard has to offer, have fun! Life is for living and no better way to do it than in a place that has so much going on.
